Microsoft Lists will be arriving soon and are expected to land into Office 365 tenants by mid October 2020, and when available, the Microsoft Teams Lists app brings SharePoint lists into the Teams interface. Microsoft 365 Updates: New Update to Microsoft Teams Usage Reports, Exportable Security and Compliance Reports, Microsoft Teams Lobby Changes, and Override OneDrive Expiration Policy

Updated Microsoft Teams Usage Reports are landing at the end of August to align “active users” with Microsoft’s definition of “daily active users”, which they use for their financial reporting and public disclosures. Microsoft defines active users as “the maximum daily users performing an intentional action in the last 28-day period across the desktop client, mobile client and web client”.

Microsoft Teams is set to expand the total number of video participants displays on the screen up to a maximum of 49. Whilst this may not suit all meeting types, this is a requested feature for scenarios such as education. This feature requires the new multi-window meeting experience, and requires a minimum of 10 participants with video switched on.

Here’s a quick overview of several updates which caught my attention: Microsoft Teams Walkie Talkie is rolling out in preview for Android clients, the public preview requires a setting change made within the Teams admin center to enable, whereby the feature is available within 48hrs. This is an interesting feature which could be made to good use for hospitality, manufacturing, education, etc.

Key Updates and Announcements Slight change this week with the formatting of these updates, the majority of the content will focus on new feature announcements, with updates to previous announcements contained to their own section with reference URLs for more information. This streamlines the information contained here as there is no need to repeat the full update in subsequent weeks when the only change is the deployment timeline. When Microsoft announced their intention to allow self service licensing for the Power Platform there was plenty of push back from administrators who were concerned with lack of control of Microsoft 365 licensing components.
